MAGAZINE ORDER - FUND RAISER

The P.C. Elementary School will begin collecting addresses and magazine orders on Sept. 10th.  Please start thinking about addresses you can use to complete your child's booklet - Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Co-Workers, Doctors, Dentists, & Friends.   If you currently subscribe to a magazine, and you would like to renew your subscription, or you would like to gift a subscription to a teacher, friend, or relative... this will be the time to do it!  This is our school's largest fundraiser.  Your participation is essential in helping us reach our goals for the year.  Watch for the packet to be in your child's backpack on the 10th.

REMIND 101

Remind 101 is a wonderful tool that we have been using a few months.  This messaging system enables the school (teachers and administrators) to notify parents about important upcoming events.  We have been very happy with the feedback we have received from parents concerning this new method of sharing information.

Most of the teachers are now using this program to notify you about things happening in their classrooms.

Parents may receive notifications through a text message or an email, or both.  Standard text messaging fees apply.

If you have not signed up for Mrs. Burson's messages, please follow the steps below:

Text Messaging:
1.  Send a text message to (865) 312-7698
2.  In the message box - type:
           @pcparentk4
3. Send
4. You should receive a message back, asking you to type your first and last name.
5. That's it.  You're signed up.

If you prefer to receive email updates, please do the following:
1.  Send an email to the following email address:
      pcparentk4@remind101.com
2.  Leave the subject blank.
3.  Leave the body of the message blank.

YOU MAY SIGN UP FOR BOTH: TEXT MESSAGES AND EMAILS.

BLOOD DRIVE @ HIGH SCHOOL

Parkers Chapel will be hosting our first blood drive of the year next Wednesday, September 5th, in the high school library from 8:00-3:00.

Not only do these units of blood save lives, but we are also able to earn scholarship money for our seniors if we collect enough.

Walk-ins are welcome.  You may contact Gina Watkins (watkinsg@parkerschapel.k12.ar.us ) if you'd like to reserve a specific time.  Please invite your spouses, neighbors, friends and family to join you!

Mrs. Blaylock - First Grade

Mrs. Blaylock, our first grade reading and spelling teacher, had appendectomy surgery Sunday morning.  She was discharged late Sunday afternoon and is home recovering.  She is expected to return in two to three weeks if there are no complications.  A letter will be sent home on Monday with details for parents.  We will miss her and we hope she has a speedy recovery.
From My Kitchen:
Most of you know that I love to cook.  Clean... not so much!  Recently I made two peaches and cream cobblers - one for Mrs. Corrie and the other for Mrs. Wells's birthday.  Mr. Gross and Mrs. Wells both asked for the recipe, so I have decided that every once in a while, I'll share a favorite on my blog. Here goes.  I hope you enjoy it.

Peaches and Cream Cobbler

3/4 cup all purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup milk
3/4 cup peach juice (from a large can of sliced peaches - heavy syrup of course)
1 egg
1 small package - instant vanilla pudding

Mix all the above ingredients with a hand mixer about 1 minute.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Melt a stick of butter in a 9X13 cake pan.

Pour the pudding mixture into the cake pan (on top of the melted butter).

Use a fork and place the sliced peaches (from the large can) on top of the pudding mixture.

Now, make the cream to add to the top.

8 oz. package of cream cheese
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring

Mix the 3 ingredients above with a hand mixer until it is creamy (not long).

Drop by teaspoon on top of the sliced peaches.

Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the cobbler is barely firm.  Do not overcook it.

Serve immediately.  Place the remaining cobbler in the refrigerator.  Warm leftovers in the microwave for best results.

First Week-SUCCESS!!!
I want to thank the faculty & staff, parents, and students for a great first week.  Routines are being established.  Everyone is doing their part to make sure we are where we are supposed to be, when we are supposed to be.  We've made a few adjustments.  That's what makes working at P.C. so special.  Everyone is willing to do what is necessary to make things work for our students!

The first pep-rally of the year was held yesterday.  The 2nd - 4th grade players were introduced by their coach.  Then, the 2nd - 4th cheerleaders cheered & danced.  Next, we met the 5th - 6th Pee-Wee players and cheerleaders.  Parents were able to sit in the front, so they could take pictures and video this special event.

Rain!!!! Yes, we even received a nice shower which cooled things down considerably.  The cooler weather made it seem so much more like football season.  Many of the Trojan fans are getting very excited.  The official season begins this week. The  Jr. High will take on Smackover Tuesday night and the Sr. High will take on Magnet Cove Thursday night.  Both games will be at P.C.

I hope everyone enjoys their weekend.  I'm heading out to watch the Pee-Wee games.

August 20, 2012
We had an amazing first day.  The teachers worked extremely hard to prepare for the big day.  The children arrived with new haircuts, shiny tennis shoes and sparkling sandals.  They were so excited to be spending the day with their new teachers.  More to come tomorrow!
